Food and
Clothing Ministry Team |
The Food Pantry and Clothes Closet is
one of the first ministries of Crossroads Fellowship, beginning in
December 2003 with the purchase of the old Trigg County Baptist Church
building by ministry team members. We provide food for people in need, due
to near poverty income in addition to clothing for children of low income
families. The food pantry also provides holiday meal baskets for needy
families during the Christmas season.
This ministry is a member of American
Second Harvest of Kentucky's Heartland which allows us to receive food,
water, and clothing for victims disasters, such as Hurricane Katrina. The
ministry works with Kentucky's Cabinet of Families and Children and Trigg
County's ASK Family Resource and Youth Service Center for referrals.
During its first 18 months, the food
pantry provided food for over 5,000 meals for people in need of Trigg
County. On December 12th, 2005 the ministry provided Santa Claus to
present toys provided by Church members to about 35 children of Trigg
County. On January 12th, 2006 the ministry held a food
drive at Cadiz Food Giant where the citizens provided approximately $500
in discounted food items.
The food pantry and children's clothes
closet will be open every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon. If anyone
knows of an individual or family in need of food or children's clothes
please tell them about the food and clothes closet. We receive great joy
providing for our brothers and sisters physical needs which gives us an
opportunity to provide their spiritual needs.
